A Journey to Authentic High Atlas Villages:
At the threshold of this adventure, the village of Imlil opens its doors to you, a gem nestled at 1704 meters altitude, where tradition blends into the landscape. A comfortable guesthouse (homestay) welcomes you with the warmth of Amazigh hospitality, offering a well-deserved rest with a breathtaking view of the High Atlas and its lush orchards.
The Charm of Id Issa Village:
Our second night will be spent in the village of Id Issa (1830m), perched amid mountains and terraced fields. This village has preserved its ancient charm, with its mud-brick houses now architectural gems. Throughout our journey, we will be warmly welcomed by the local population, making this adventure ideal for those seeking an authentic experience.
Expedition Summary:
Day 1: Arrival in the Village of Imlil (1704m)
Upon arrival in Imlil, you will be welcomed in a guesthouse (homestay) managed by a local family. You will get close to their way of life, culture, good cuisine, and hospitality, with a delicious dinner served.
Day 2: From Imlil Village (1704m) – Tizi’Mzik (2684m) – Tizi’Oussem (1850m) – Village of Id Issa (1800m)
Distance: 14 km
Time: 5h30 to 6h30 of hiking
We will leave Imlil early in the morning after breakfast at the guesthouse. We will ascend along the Tizi’Mzik pass (2684m), taking our time to appreciate the panoramic views of the Imlil Valley and the Toubkal peaks. We will follow the trail descending into the Azzaden Valley through juniper forests, enjoying views of the beautiful Azzaden Valley and its villages. After a relaxing break, our hike continues to the village of Id Issa (1800m). We will stop at the Id Issa guesthouse (homestay) for lunch and dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: From the Village of Tizi Zougart (1830m) – Id Issa Village (1800m) – Tizi’Oudid (2000m) – Arghen Village (1800m) – Imlil Village (1704m)
Distance: 13 km
Time: 4 to 5 hours of hiking
After breakfast, we will follow the trail ascending to Tizi’Oudid (2000m). Upon reaching it, we will admire magnificent landscapes in all directions. After a short photo session, we will take the same trail descending through juniper forests and the authentic villages of Matat and Aguersioual. We will have lunch at the guesthouse in Imlil. After a short relaxing break, we will return to Marrakech.
